4 ways to get 100% free domains

100% free domains 2021
When you create your own website or blog, the domain name is what the visitor notices first even before they actually go to your website. In majority of the cases, the domain name is the givaway of what your website is about. A tech blog named unboiledeggs.com would only confuse the visitor, and they might end up not visiting at all thinking it to be a food blog instead. An ideal domain name should be small, catchy, shouldn't have consecutive repeating letters or hyphenations, and should be representative.

To understand how important domains can be, you might remember how Jeb Bush and his team lost their domain JebBush.com to Donald Trump, who not only took the opportunity to purchase that domain, but went on to hurt Bush's campaign by redirecting Bush's visitors to his own presidential election website. *Ouch*

Now, the cost of these domains may range from a few Dollars to thousands depending on the popularity of the keyword that constitutes the domain name. For example, when a domain name like populartechdomainname.net costs only 12 USD, another one called emachine.net comes with a really steep price tag of 5000 USD owing to the recent popularity of AI and Machine Learning. But if you are a small business or a student or maybe a part-time Blogger, and don't plan to invest so much on a domain name right away, there is a possibility that you might get one for free!

Here, we will be discussing 4 different ways using which you can acquire a domain name for yourself, free of cost.

Following Name.com on Twitter

Name.com is a popular domain name registrar. They offer very competitive price for registering the domains with them, and tend to offer free domains at times through their social media channels. To be aware of these offers, you need to follow Name.com on their Twitter channel.

Using Freenom

Freenom is another domain registrar like Name.com. However, they offer free domain names more regularly through their website, depending on the availability of the said domain. Although, there is a catch.

When you register a free domain using Freenom, the actual domain name would be registered under their name, you would just get the right to use it for the length of your registration period. You will not be able to sell or transfer the domain to anyone else since you do not own the domain, Freenom does. Also, you might not get a premium top-level domain like .com or .net for free, you would be getting a .tk, .ml, .ga, .cf, or .gq domain instead. However, I don't see how that's not a win-win considering you won't have to spend a dime to acquire this domain name. To avail a free domain from Freenom, follow the below steps:

1. Head over to the Freenom website

2. Search for a free domain name using the search box at the top of the page. Type in the name of your preferred domain, and then click on the Check Availability button

3. Once you find the domain of your choice, click on the Get it now! button beside it to check if it's available. If it is you'll move on to the next page

4. On the next page, click on the Checkout button after ensuring that it is a free domain

5. Now, you'll be asked to select your preferred registration period. Select the same from the dropdown, and then click on the Continue button

6. Now, enter your email ID and click on the Verify My Email Address button. Then check your email on another tab, and verify it using the link sent by Freenom

7. Once the email has been verified, fill in your personal details and click on the Complete Order button

That's it, you now have a free domain name. You can use this domain name with a blog created on Blogger and voila, you have your own blog! You can check their Knowledgebase articles to know more about setting up your new domain name with a hosting service.
